Solder on Bust half coin

32 posts in this topic

The coins were edge lettered until 1836(?) then reeded edges were used. The lettering and any boogering that resulted came about because of the minting process and as such are NOT cause to condemn a coin to a body bag.

In the same way a coin with cracked dies used to strike it might look like hell, it's from the mint and should be graded as a mint state piece.

Now dipping and scrubbing are post minting and are bodybagged accordingly.
