Full Head 1919-s quarter ?

8 posts in this topic

From a strike POV that is a GREAT strike. Note the almost FULL SHIELD also...the little dots are all the way around! 893whatthe.gif

Overall grade is probably not more than MS63. It's got some gunk near the motto frown.gif and it doesn't seem to have much luster. The greenish color is kinda bad too. But then again, it's only a photo so I'm guessing at best.

I've been working on a super high-end SLQ set for a client for a couple of years now, and in my experience, all three of the 1919 coins are available with super strikes. Yours looks excellent, and I think it would definitely be a full-head, but more importantly to me, a near full--shield coin. Nice!!

If you're interested, here's my client's coin:

I´m a litte colourblind, but I think right colour is champagne. The luster is a little subdued on averse, but is much nicer on the reverse. I have a problem with the

lighting, when I take pics, all "shiny" coins turn out dull greyish.

Do you think I should dip it, before submitting ? (I have never dipped/cleaned a coin before in my 20 years as a coincollector)

That SLQ looks nice! I wouldn't dip it as the toning isn't unattractive. It looks like a full head as you can make out the hairline, three sprigs and the ear hole. The rivets on the shield are there too though you can see some weakness in the bars of the shield. That is a good coin and I certainly wouldn't dip it, at the very least not until I've dipped 100 other, lesser, coins.
