I didn't have any trouble with the link James gave. It is interesting. I need to get one from this hoard for my type set.

Interesting article, James. Since I do not collect early copper, I was not aware of the details of the Randall Hoard. Thanks for the info.

Great article, James! I've always been fascinated with the subject of hoards. The 2005 redbook summarizes the major ones.

 

Just think, if not for the Randall hoard then the 1816-1820 mint state large cents would rival the Classic Head cents in price! So, instead of the $550 that I paid for my nice mint state example of an 1820 large cent then it would be closer to $20,000. Thank you, Mr. Randall et al.
