Had a great time at the Santa Clara coin show today...

Went at my lunch break planning to stay just an hour or so, stayed for four hours.

I had an excellent guide (Truthteller) who taught me much about navigating thru coin shows. He introduced me to several dealers and his presence at the tables with me where I bought my meager coins got me some nice discounts.

Also hung out with Mikey (an infrequent poster here).

In addition, NGC gave me a nice sample slab (Florida state quarter).

JJ, I just bought 2 wheats and 2 mercs for my ordinary Dansco collections. But TT pointed out to me your favorite foreign coin dealer who was there. Nice stuff!

Not the most personable guy in th eworld but he does carry some great coins. He also grades conservatively.

Yes, it was a nice day at the show. Three smart, liberal coin collectors walking the floor at Santa Clara, each right wing dealer in awe of the three geniuses walking the floor with ooddles of money flowing out of their pockets. People would literally move out of our way as we walked down the aisles. TJ graciously picked up the rather substantial tab for lunch at a 5 star restaurant, which has hosted many famous dignitaries for power lunches. TJ has incredible intellect and his power of observation is quite extraordinary. Mikey stopped at the PCGS booth and talked to the lovely PCGS girls. Within minutes, the women were putty in his hands and he managed to submit some coins for guaranteed ms69 grades. We talked about the_Thing for a while, and all came away with feelings of pity for the guy. We thought about taking up a collection for Thingie's mental rehabillition at Amarillo State mental hospital, but realized that a group prayer in French would be better suited for the sad sap.

All in all, it was a good day. yay.gif
