How do you get a full proof set slabbed?

10 posts in this topic

I have seen the holder in the Numismatist, but can't find any info on the NGC main home page.

How's it done? Does each coin get graded? I have a nice (how nice?) 1940 proof set that I would like to have in ONE slab.

Can that be done?

thx

Ahhhhh.....I see this is going to be a very popular service.

Wouldn't you think NGC could raise its grading fees 6 or 7 dollars for just ...oh...say ....6 hours.....so they could afford a COMPLETE website?

You know....pictures....easy to understand fee levels. Reference links.

Stuff like that.

You may send in your proof set to have it graded and holdered in the multi-holder, just be sure to write a note on the invoice or attached to the invoice stating so. Each coin will be graded and listed on the holder separately. The multi-holder is not listed under the service level page simply because there are so many variables. I will suggest to our web people to add some basic information about the multi-holder.

I would like you to detail what you would suggest would make a COMPLETE website. In regards to pictures, we have a daily coin picture, and numerous pages of famous pedigreed collections and coins from these sets, along with other rare coins. I'm not following where we are lacking in pictures on the site, please suggest what you have in mind. If you also have any suggestions on what is confusing you on the fee level page, feel free to let me know here or PM me anytime and I will answer your question.

AVickery.....Hotcha! Thanks.

Here's what I would suggest:

An image of the holder....clickable.....to a simple chart of fees and times (including number of coins)

Then...after a selection, the requirements to submit.

Each holder (including multiple holder) imaged. Same as above which would link to probably same info but it would make it more intuitive.

A ....real....boon would be gearing the site to an assumption that anyone may submit, which is of course not true but could easily explain what is necessary to submit. ANA, dealer, etc.

Like: Hey we're great! This is what we make. Click what interests you. Oh? this is it? Great. Now here's what to do................

Simplicity.

I had occasion to call once and I may be an insufficiently_thoughtful_person, but I was confused by the number of questions and referrals.

Simplicity.

YOU control WHO can submit. All I would like is to get the dummies (like me) into a site where the navigation is so simple that we can't get lost.

As an example, there is no link to your main site from this forum. There should be.

At least ...I...think there should be.

Thanks for the reply. I hope I've been able to explain my position.

Press 4 for a date with AVickery!

Uh oh, don't think the wife would quite like that one for some reason confused-smiley-013.gif

Thanks for the suggestions, I promise I will speak with the real web professionals here(certainly not me) to see about implementing some of the suggestions. The link back to the NGC main site certainly sounds easy to do, maybe just adding it to the other user options at the top of the page like My Home, Main Index, Search, etc.........

I'm confused. I thought you had to have each coin graded and slabbed, then resubmit for a multi holder. I was going to multi holder all my state quarter proofs but was concerned the cost was too high with double shipping and reholdering.
