Michael, I don't know about that. Many Barber and late dated Seated PF coins are cameo, but have not been resubmitted to be classified as such. I have a 1910 Dime in NGC PF 5 that would go cameo, but I don't think it's worth the hassle to get the designation on the slab. I would not pay a premium for these coins

I can often tell a cameo PF from a non-cameo, but don't have the expertise to distinguish a deep cameo from a cameo. Now, if you found a PF Liberty Nickel minted between 1901 and 1909 that qualified for cameo designation, that would be a scarce coin! OTOH, I wouldn't know what sort of demand there would be for it.

i made the first deep cameo lib nick ever first ever at pcgs and it graded proof 67 was a post 1900 date

1901 and was undipped lightly toned

any true deep cameo pre 1916 proof coin is rare and you would know it if you seen it but the coin has to be a killer stellar deep/ultra cameo and more than some that are graded at one particiular service are just waNNAbes but this particiular plastic in this current market really makes the coin especially do with proof/ms 70 coins but if the coin is all there then this is okie the problem arises when the coin is not truly what the plastic says it is or the coin is all there but the plastic still makes a substancial amount of value to the coin like any super high gaga grades but the market speaks and right now this is the current demand what buyers want

some pre 1916 deep/ultra cameo coins if they are all there grade and eye appeal wise some are better than others depending on the date and series

As has always been the case, any key date in any series. cool.gif

You may be right but how much is someone actually willing to spend on a 1916 D Mercury dime, etc.? Is two grand too much for an overgraded VG or will it be considered a bargain some day?

How about MS Coronet Quarter-Eagles, minted between 1878 and 1900? With the exception of the 1893, the populations are really low in MS grades. Try and find nice ones for anywhere near sheet!

I think two grand for an over-graded vg is unacceptable ! But, hears a thought to ponder. Would two grand be too much for an under-graded vg ? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

I think so. I feel that a solidly graded F-15 should be a thousand dollar coin even with demand.
