Can PCGS use the PNG logo? (images added)

5 posts in this topic

I recently submitted ten coins to PCGS (mostly for clients). On the back, most of the slabs have a hologram logo that simply says "NASDAQ: CLCT" and an image of a Saint Gaudens. Curiously, some of the coins have a hologram of the official PNG logo. Is PCGS still permitted to use this logo on their slabs? or does it even matter? I would have thought that only NGC coins would be allowed to sport the PNG logo now.

On a side note, it took a very long time for me to get the coins back. I won't get into details, but were it not for specific requests by the clients, I would have gone with NGC.

Is it the same hologram as when they were the official grading service of the PNG? If so, then they probably had the right to use up any existing inventory of the slabs. If not, they are either [#@$%!!!] or are using a PNG logo that members are authorized to use.

That's odd. My Value submission took only 3 weeks. Oops, that was NGC and not PCG$.

The top one looks like the old slab as far as I remember. They are probably just using up their old inventory.

The new one looks cheesy. However, they might be a collectors item after CLCT gets delisted. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif
