What is the deal with this 1842 Cent?

Your coin appears to be damaged. What seems to be raised metal on its obverse is directly opposite a clearly bent area on its reverse.

The obverse reminds me of this coin. However, the area near the chin of this older coin looks worn off over time.The damage on the revese doesn't look sufficent enough to raise the metal on the obverse to me.The coin looks like it does have damage on both sides also.This is just my opinion though.

It looks like damage to me too but, I think something else is also going on with it. Don't know what but something.

after looking at the coin some more... I think there is more to it then the backside damage.... they are close to lining up, but still not exactly on....
