Does NGC Pedigree Paramount Holdered Coins?

4 posts in this topic

I am buying a 1900-O/CC Morgan in a Paramount holder that should grade 64 and am considering having it certified by NGC for my registry set. Didn't most Paramount holdered Morgans have claims to the Redfield hoard? and if so, then would NGC put Redfield or Paramount on the holder as a pedigree coin?

Thanks for your input, Eric

If the coin is submitted to NGC in a Paramount holder labeled REDFIELD, we will encapsulate with the designation REDFIELD HOARD. We do not, however, grade them in the original Paramount holders as we're doing with the GSA holders.

I can't understand why some people are so enamored with these Redfield coins. They all had "MS-65" written on the holders, and I can't recall seeing ONE Redfield MS-65 that was an MS-65. The ones I have seen were lucky if they made MS-63 with a tail wind. Some were barely Mint State.

I don't get it.
