I don't know much about the ancient coins but I'll fill in some info on the others.

Coin 1: 1851-A France (2nd Republic), Paris mint, 10 Francs, 0.0933 oz actual gold weight when new, 3.1M struck. Catalog number KM770 with a value of $65.00 in VF

Coin 2: 1870 Belgium (Leopold II) 20 Francs, 0.1867 oz actual gold weight when new. Several varieties exist but your is most likely catalog number KM32 with a value of $70 in XF.

Coin 3: 1911 France (3rd Republic), Paris mint, 10 Francs, 0.0933 oz actual gold weight when new, 1.9M struck. Catalog number KM846 with a value of $52.00 in XF.

Coin 4: 1907 France (3rd Republic), Paris mint, 10 Francs, 0.0933 oz actual gold weight when new, 3.4M struck. Catalog number KM846 with a value of $52.00 in XF.

Coins 5 & 6: 1945 Mexico 2 ½ pesos, 0.0602 oz actual gold weight when new. Approximately 5M struck dated 1945 through 1972. Catalog number KM463 with a value of bullion +18% in UNC.

Coin 9: Unknown date, Great Britain (Victoria), florin (two shillings), 0.3364 oz silver weight when new. Catalog number KM746.2 or 746.4 depending on whether there’s a die number on the coin. Common dates valued at $12.50 in F.

Coin10: 1722 Spain (Philip V), 2 reales, Seville mint, 0.1965 oz silver weight when new. Catalog number KM307 with a value of $27.50 in VF.

Coin 13: Looks to be of a Spanish possession but can’t really tell.

Coin 14: 1898 Russia (Nicholas II), 5 roubles, 0.1244 oz gold weight when new. 50M struck. Catalog number KM62 with a value of $70 in XF.

The values I’ve quoted are highish retail prices you might expect to pay when buying one of these coins from a dealer. Selling will be discounted quite a bit. The gold coins are all fairly common and will trade more or less for the value of their gold content.

I hope you've found this helpful, feel free to ask any follow up questions and welcome!

I'll see what I can find out on the ancients and post tomorrow.

I think 7 and 8 are Roman with Gordium III as ruler, but that's just a guess.

I can't make out enough of the legends to tell. Most likely 7 is a coin that has little value $5.00 or so, and 8 might be a bit more $15 - $25. Coins number 11 and 12 peaked my interest, as in something not looking right about them. I sent an e-mail with the images out to a list that should be able to tell us everything we need to know. I'll post results as soon as I get them.

Shouldn't your interest be piqued rather than peaked?

Jam, don't take the high road on spelling/grammar lest you wish to be castigated with your very next post or posts.

Yes, PLEASE don't castrate me!!!!! 893whatthe.gif Ok, got the ancients ID'd. acclaim.gif Coins 7 and 8 are Valerian I. Coins 11 and 12 appear to be fakes, not official certainly, but almost certain. Coin 12 is Domitian. As for values, I'm not sure yet, but I'll check that out and hopefully get that back this evening.

Glad I could help. On the bright side you have a neat little collection of coins spanning almost 200 years and all popular coinage metals.

You can still retire as soon as you like - you'll just need another way to fininace it! stooges.gif

After suffering through a long day of exchanging e-mail with the impaired TJ, I've got a chance to look up some ROUGH values. The first two coins, as I thought, would be cheap, maybe $5.00 for the first and up to $15.00 for the second. Even the two fakes have some value as fakes, maybe $5.00 - $10.00 each as educational pieces. And the last piece, I'm guessing here, $35.00.
