For the half dollar, it's happened twice. The Mint mark apperaed on the obverse in 1838 and 39 (capped bust types), but then was moved to the reverse in 1840 (seated Liberty type) and remained there through 1915 for all types. Then in 1916, the Mint mark appeared again on the obverse with the Walking Liberty half and appeared there with some halves minted in 1917. But it was switched again to the reverse in 1917 and remained there through all types until 1968 when it was placed again on the obverse of the Kennedy half. It's been there ever since.

Mint marks for the qurter eagle appeared on the obverse in 1838 (classic head type) and were moved to the reverse in 1840 (coronet type).

On the half eagle, it was also on the obverse in 1838 (classic head type) and 1839 (coronet head type), but then moved to the reverse in 1840 (coronet head type).

Those are the only denominations that I know of that made a switch from an obverse Mint mark to a reverse Mint mark in their history.

Do you mean from reverse to obverse?

I can only think of a few that way around....

The Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Kennedy Half all had mint marks appear on the obverse starting in 1968.

I don't know... I'm never good at these questions! confused-smiley-013.gif
