1999 Delaware State Quarter misprint

6 posts in this topic

Hi Chrystal - welcome to the boards. I hope that your interest in coins exceeds the qurter you have.

What you likely have is a coin struck from a grease-filled die. These coins are fairly common and only hold a modicum of value in excess of face. If you really want to know its value, put it on eBay and set a $1000 reserve. It won't sell, and the highest bid will represent an approximate value. Start it at face. If I had to guess, I'd say it's worth $2.00 in MS65 condition.

Also, you might try posting inquiries about U.S. coins in the U.S. coin forum, as they'll gather more attention there.

Yeah my coin interests exceeds beyond that. I have plenty of rare coins, bills and off centered ones. Though I dont believe its a 'grease filled die'. I will try to get a picture of it up when I can, but I am most certain it is not that. Though I will try the ebay thing. Thanks.

Don't you think he should set the reserve at like $100.00 at $1000.00 that would be a 10 buck reserve fee alone... prolly worth more than the qtr itself...

Howdy and welcome. I have to agree with Hoot in that your coin sounds like it has a grease-filled die. These are quite common with the DE issues and the letters in "THE FIRST STATE" are often the elements plagued.
