NGC slab doodad question

4 posts in this topic

I asked this in the "Ask NGC" forum, but it doesn't appear that they're going to answer my question frown.gif

I just received a couple NGC slabs of recent vintage. They both had this doodad/doohickey at the bottom of the slab core. The plastic at the base of the slab also seemed more "distressed" than usual.

Does anyone know what this piece is, and what its purpose in the slab is?

I see that doohickey on nearly all of my slabs of late. It's the doojobber that is made when the whatsit detatches from the thingamabob. Then they test it with a hammer.

The extra piece of core material is from the manufacturer and the plastic at the bottom of the holder is from the sealing process.

Sorry it took a couple of days to get back to you, I try to answer all the questions at least twice a week. smile.gif
