gem proof colored indian cent...............flaming electric red

18 posts in this topic

ngc proof 65 red brown

a really nice 65

and the scan doesnot show the bright flaming electric red colors and flame blue highlights along with deep mirrors

proof indians with color are one of the hardest coins to scan and get a good image

no spots stains or carbon!

Wow! That's an absolutely gorgeous coin! I love how the blue just seems to float againstthe fiery red background. It almost looks like she's ready to do a war-dance. Very cool! grin.gif

thanks all for the responses! every person that saw this coin and they were all non collectors loved it as it is extremely flashy they all wanted to break it out of the holder and put it into a pendant and wear it around their necks! as sight seen it glows in person and looks great at any angle in any light!

thanks for all the great responses

relentles a great thing to say i love it!!

povertyrow i am sorty i do not have anymore scans i have them done by someone as a favor to me!!

wow hammer a neat original coin that 1899!! wow with blue highlights also!

now for me this coin is not an album toned coin and i will tell you why i have some original cased proof sets with gold silver and copper in them no they are not usa coins........lol

they are british commonwealth proof sets in their original cases and are all pluch/velvet type lined all the copper coins have close tothe same toning as this indian now the indian is heads and tails better

but the foreign copper is almost similar in the toning!

i personally think thast this indian cent was defintayl not in an album but in some sort of case that again was velvet/plush lined and was kept closed and not distrubed for many many decades i would not be surprised for longer than 60 years! and everythnig came together as it was sotred in a way where no spots or stains or ugly patterns were made on the coin also no carbon! for me extremely uncommon to have these colors WITH clean surfaces free of any distractions and also deeply mirrored.......... i guess everything just happened in the right places

the red is not from the original red but toned this way as if you saw this coin in person it is really flaming electirc red!

and also this coin as i said above is untouched and if you examine this coin it has no marks or hairlines at all! for me it is a really nice 65 and i could see it in a 66 holder where it would be a nice 66! but the grading services really ever see such a coin and i am sure are afraid of it as it is something not usually seen so clean and attractuive and i understand with the toning so deep they just do not understand what is underneath

i guess it is easy for me to be a monday morning quarterback and this is my speciality and the services have to be really experts in everythnig and then juat look at the coin for a few seconds

but if they really studied the coin like me for hours and hours and only thought about this one coin for a week well they would be out of business .........lol

but they the dervices do a great job within reason of waht they have to do to also be a business and in the black!

see if i ran a service i would get a coin in like this and examine it for a week and have discussions about it and spend an hour or two on it well i am sure i would be out of business rather quick

for me this coin is technically perfect from a stand point of no hiarlines nor marks

but for me the eye appeal is simply outstanding!

Beautiful coin, michael. I'm surprised that the service did not go PF66 with the way you are describing it. I agree that this coin was likely not stored in an album to get that type of equally mixed toning throughout the body of the piece. The mix of red and blue is especially striking given that there are not other colors to "muddy" it up.

hi there tom you are very astute and for me i cant unbderstand why this coin didnot do 66 and if it was 66 it would be a really nice 66 plus coin for the grade!! oh well better undergraded than maxed out

you are also right on that this coin was for me never ever in an album again for me with cased original proof sets i have seen in plush and/or velvet caess this coin was sotred in some sort of plush velvet case drawer? but anyway this coin looks much better in person

i am really surprised to have found this coin as it is one of the best toned proof indians i have ever seen! in terms of eye appeal it is what is called monster and for me a very overused term so i guess i will err on the side of caution and say exceptional eye appeal
