Proof Shield Nickels!

10 posts in this topic

Hi, I haven't been over here in a while. I usually lurk on the CU currency forum. I have a question about the values of proof Shield Nickels. My Grey Sheet ran out over a year ago and the Green Sheet doesn't have nickels in it!? What is bid for a NGC or PCGS proof64's and proof 65's? Thank You in advance...

The Greysheet does not break the coins down as to grading service. What years are you looking for? I ask because the values are all over the place, depending on year.

tomb is also really astute and helpful on these forums yay.gif

hope you enjoy the forums monty

and if you are getting into shield nicks in proof they are in my opinion great coins to buy if you can find one with great eye appeal hard coins to find with exceptional eye appeal

the lib nicks are great coins too along with all of the proof copper and copper nickel coinage of the 19th century

Thanks Tom! I am surprized that any one would help me. Monday Greg Rohan and Allen Mincho banned me from ever bidding in any of their auctions ever again! tonofbricks.gif

Oh I almost forgot! What is the difference in wholesale bid in the 1922 Plain VF weak Rev. and Strong Rev. I found a weak rev on eBay and thought of bidding on it... That is if I can figure out the bids on the two. I think the strong bid in VF is $600.00 I would assume the weak would be $300.00. How close am I?

I dont know about the bid on the weak 22, but if you want to buy a no problem, certified strong 22 in VF you better be prepared to pay in excess of $1000.

Thanks for the great info. I haven't owned a Shield Nickel in 20 years, and I have never owned a 1922Plain Cent. I am usually a Currency guy.
