Binion dollars - advice solicited

I just acquired as part of a collection a handful of Binion dollars certified by NGC. They are unattractive coins, UNC but appropriately graded low (MS-60 & 61) by NGC to reflect this fact.

Is there in general a premium associated with these coins? Is NGC the only company to recognize this pedigree?

Thanks for you responses.

Hi James,

I do believe that NGC got the 'exclusive' on the packaging of the Binion hoard. Coin World had quite a write-up on it when Ron Gillio bought the deal. I believe it was four or five months ago.....He then contracted with NGC to grade the dollars and slab the casino chips. All with a pedigree.....

Kinda of like ship-wreck coins, I suppose....But different.....

I hope you didn't pay much, the Binion Hoard was really big so the Fact that it comes from Binion is of little value, buy the coins for the coins and not the name. I believe Home shopping network is selling these coins. Beware anything related to home shopping network.

Above is my opinion only laugh.gifacclaim.gif

Actually, I have them on consignment, which is why I want to make sure I don't undersell them if the Binion name is worth something.

James, I thought you had already learned the value of a pedigree. makepoint.gif

I guess there's no real premium is what I'm understanding. Thanks for the help!
