1930 venezuela gold

I looked this one at krause and it reads...

10 bolivares with a note:

Only 10% of the total mintage was realeased,

the balance remaining as part of the nation's gold reserve.

 

it does not say how many total mintage or any other info.

 

anyone have more info about those ?

The 500K pieces were struck at the Philadelphia mint. The one you show is pretty typical of the condition they are found in and they usually sell in $60-$70 range. I wonder how far that would change IF they are still holding 450K of them and decide to release them all.

I was wondering the same thing, but they might just melt it as well !?

 

and why would they hold such a small coins ? I would think reserve gold would be hold in much bigger bars.

 

I didnt even know nations still keeping reserve gold
