If you spent 3 continious months between truthtellers 220 pound butt cheeks, you would be BU70 also, TJ. BUT, considering you were 6 months,. you are BU62

I just don't get this ancient grading... confused.gif

From that picture a while back I would have guessed BU70, wouldn't that make him like BU72 or 73 by now?

I think you have an excellent point, spiny. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Why do Texans have this fascination with people's butts? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif I guess they make good 'brownnosers'. confused-smiley-013.gif

Well, its fascinating based on science. This thing called a "truthteller" has been known to emerge from between peoples butt cheeks quite often. 27_laughing.gif

I have learned this much, the coin is from France, Melgueil. If that helps anyone find any more info, date/value/historical info, I would appreciate it.

I have a book on medieval French coins, I'll browse through it tonight and see if there are any matches.

Well, my crusader coin library is now going to consist of Coins of the Crusader States by Malloy, and Coinage of the Crusades and the Latin East in the Ashmolean Museum , Oxford, by Metcalf. As far as I have been able to determine, there are the only 2 reference books devoted specifically to Crusader coinage. I'm going to keep an eye out for auction catalogues, as I think JJ suggested. If anyone ever needs any help ID'ing, just let me know. Price wasn't too bad. $75.00 for the Malloy book, and $80.00 for the Metcalf.

Update. The coin has been ID'd. Not acutally a Crusader coin, BUT....the coin is a billon denier from Valence, France, 12th-13th century. These were in common use among the Crusaders and are often found in Jerusalem (where this coin was found). The obverse is a floral cross, the reverse an angel. A reference is Roberts, The Silver Coins of Medieval France, #4782.
