The obverse and reverse have vastly different quality.

I grade the coin MS62 averaging the obv/rev grade.

I guess that PCGS held the obverse more important and graded the coin MS60

Obverse has taken the brunt of the hits. I'm going to say a trace of wear gives this one an AU 58 - I'll say PCGS said the same.

(although the reverse is making me want to go up the scale) hm

At the risk of putting my foot (or feet) in my mouth, based on the images provided, I just can't see an AU grade being assigned to the coin.

I don't detect any signs of wear, the luster is plenty strong enough, and nothing about the coin's appearance says AU.

For those of you who guessed AU, why?

Thanks.

My personal grade would be MS-61 with a possible "+." The coin appears to be Mint State, and I'll take your word for it that it has full cartwheel luster. The piece has a lot of small marks on the obverse which really hold it down. I debated about calling it MS-62, but decided to call it 61 with the "+." The reverse looks like an MS-64, but the obverse really determines the grade, and the reverse comes along for the ride.

The PCGS grade? It should be the same as mine, but there have been lose periods when they have graded coins higher than I would have. I'll guess than they called it MS-63 because of the luster. They used to put up with a lot of marks if the coin had bright luster. Lately I've seen less of that.

Me 62 and pcgs 55. My 62 based solely on your cartwheel description. As previously stated the obverse has some hits but the reverse is a bit higher grade. IMO. Looking forward to the reveal next week.

Picture grading! lol

Slight rub in the hair to the right of Liberty's eye. Eagles beak and arrow heads look a little shiny, feathers above shield and tip of right wing also appear to have slight rubbing.

Given the heading of the OP "hold me , squeeze me" I think this coin is a little further, one way or the other, than what was expected. A 63 is not a huge price gain from an AU coin ( $300 in PCGS guide) so - could this coin have made the leap up to 64? I wouldn't think so but......"hold me, squeeze me" leads me to believe somethings going on here.

I'm going to stick with AU 58.

Eliminate the "forward slash" bracketed in the end "quote" and it will work.

I hit the backspace bar too many times and took out the bracketed end quote. I put it back together but wasn't sure if it would work or not....now I know. Thanks
