Wow that is crazy! How does the one section not have any toning at all? Was another coin laying ontop of it over the years or something?

The untoned spot is the size of a nickel, so that would be my guess (that a nickel laid on top of it for some extended period of time).

I wonder if it would have been possible for the nickel that you say laid on it to carry the same toning...... that would be really neat... to have like a matching set.... but I am not sure if it is possible like that...

what toning the coin laying on top of it aquired.
