More than fake coins from China....

21 posts in this topic

Most collectors are aware of the extensive range of counterfeit coins made by Chinese crooks, among others. Of course, the same groups also fake other goods, and that even includes wine.

From the BBC:

Police in China have discovered 10,000 bottles labeled as one of the world's most expensive wines in a deserted house. If authentic the haul of Chateau Lafite Rothschild would be worth £10m ($16m), but police believe it is fake.

Analysts say that 70% of bottles of Chateau Lafite sold in China are fakes. The wine making estate has fought and won six lawsuits against Chinese companies over fine wines.

Yep---fake "thousand year" old eggs....

The only good thing is to hope their military is riddled with inferior fake parts, so the next time they launch a missile it fails in the own yard.

I hope the honorable Longacre, on PCGS, does not hear of this. His green velvet smoking jacket might be phony....

Unfortunately, I think I saw a 60 minutes a year or so back that showed where our military procures electronic chips etc, from China that are simply pieces of plastic, non working replicas. So they don't know they are fake until installed and tested.

I hear they're making fake GM vehicles also. lol

Nope, they are 100% real. GM is outsourcing so much that I think 70% of all GM vehicles are made outside the US. Thank you bailout

I know a lot of stuff we buy in stores and such are made in china, and I'm presuming there are methods already in place to stop fake items to those places but this is the main reason when I buy on ebay, that I buy US only. Not to say the seller didn't buy it from china, but it does make my purchases somewhat of a better percentage of not buying a fake.

But wait there's more, they counterfeit all of our products, they manipulate their currency to the rest of the world's disadvantage, and we educate huge amounts of their students in graduate schools here on the tax dollars of US citizens. And that is NOT a political statement, it is simply fact that is in line with the issue of counterfeiting. Just merely stating facts.

Best, HT

Kinda like us educating the American Indians...their law students looked at old treaties and discovered local, state & federal laws (other than criminal) did not really apply to Indian Reservations...the light bulb went on CASINOS!
