10 posts in this topic

you know how the slab made of 2 pieces that looks like they glue togther...

well I noticed that most of them glued perfectly but few That i have show a lil space in bitween and run all around the slab, (about 1/8")

I wonder if thats how it should be or just happen from the process of slabbing

OR is it somthing to worry about and might be somone mess with the holder.

I attach a pic to try and be more understood.that is the slab in Q. slab.jpg

I've noticed that 'groove' on many, many NGC slabs. Nothing to worry about unless there is a crack sideways instead of lengthwise.

I'm certain this has been discussed but I've noticed these tiny little bubbles or imperfections in material concerning the new NGC holders. At first I had a problem seeing the coin through the plastic on one of two NGC certified coins that I've recently acquired. I wasn't about to start a thread until I saw the same problem on another NGC holder in an up coming auction. See attachment! I've never seen this before and have holders from a few different grading companies including the older NGC slabs! Has anyone else notice this?

There are a number of different NGC slabs on the market. The ones that have this tiny groove are the newest casing style, which came out about 3 years ago. The groove is part of the design, and is found on every one of the new holders. Coins in other style holders will not have the groove.

Leo, I recall someone posting about that problem around a year ago, about the time the new slab insert design was adopted. I have several of the newer slabs and they are all that way. I can't recall what NGC said about it but I wish they would go back to the clearer plastic myself.

AS PER THE ABOVE YES YES I HATE THESE IMPERFECTIONS IN THE NGC PLASTIC HOLDERS FOR MANY MONTHS NOW TERRIBLE YOUR SCAN SUMS IT UP WELL

IT IS TERRIBLE AND THESE TINY WHATEVER YOU CALL THEM DO NOT HELP TO SEE THE COIN AND HURTS THE VIEWING YOU MAKE AN EXTREMELY VALID POINT LEO THE OLDER CRYSTAL CLEAR PLASTIC WAS MUCH BETTER TO VIEW THE COIN
