Am I wrong to hold out for the right coin?

Hi Everyone

Recently, I've come across a dealer who claims to have pulled 21 1949D/S Jefferson nickels out of one roll of nickels! 893whatthe.gif Holy cow was my reply to this very lucky fellow. He may very well make 20 grand on this one nickel roll!

Well, my deliema is that I'm after a FS example of a 49D/S and so I have chosen to bypass all the non FS coins this guy has. I explained to the gentleman that I would eventually need to upgrade if I bought a non FS 49D/S.

But it's not unheard of, to locate so many great coins from rolls! But one roll, one guy and there's 6 billion people out there! So what does this tell me? The baby boomers are starting to unload their wares and there's much more to follow!

And it's very likely the prices for many seldom seen coins made in the last century will fall.

Leo,

You know I'm just as much a fanatic for FS as you are, but the opportunity to obtain any coin one doesn't have, especially varieties, should not be passed up! I agree with Hoot! thumbsup2.gif

If he has a grade of 65 or less, you're looking at less then $500 (maybe as low as $300 raw). At least twice that for a FS. Should look at this as karma---meant to be! Read my sig line!

There are 9 MS64s being offered at $240 a piece! So here's another question. Would it be good ethics to sell these one at a time over an extended period of, lets say a year and try to get the most miles for the gallon? If I were he, would I develope some quilty conscious selling one at a time knowing that I have 20 more stashed away in a drawer. What if these were 1954-S's with great strikes and full steps! What a great guy I would be letting them go at $50 each! grin.gifinsane.gif Doesn't sound too American, does it? 27_laughing.gif I'll just keep dreaming on! sleeping.gif
