what do you think of this idea

with all the hassles on that auction site I was wondering if this could be a good idea .. going to email it to them if you think so

when people do not complete a transaction they are given strikes .. and you can block people with them

what about all the "lost" in post items .. how about when you click on the person who has bid there is shown how many times the person has had something lost in the post and claimed the money back.. this could help by showing a pattern up (which could convince certain people not to lie and get the item for free) and also if the person hits a certain limit they would have to have items sent recorded only

I know we all like to think that people are not scamming this way but I know it is true, someone i know paid a lot of money for a bottle and could not relay afford it at the time so convinced the seller to send it cheep and then claimed it did not come and got the refund and sold the bottle 25% cheaper the next day and paid bills with the money.

also with the "I will not pay for returns postage" there seems to be more people who are not happy with an item they have received just say it did not turn up .. less hassle and its free anyway

also for those who say just charge recorded anyway .. you want a $5 coin for your collection do you really want to pay £12+ postage for it and why should the honest bidders who do not scam have to pay for recorded postage .. I have purchased a lot of coins form the USA which have been sent unrecorded and only one did not turn up and i really think that coin was never sent (got it well cheep)

Those are good ideas. I haven't done ebay for years now. I'm content getting coins from collectors here, across the street, online coin sites, and at local shows.

It may be different in the UK but here in the US most sellers add delivery confirmation to their shipments, it's cheap and it stops those type of scams. If the delivery confirmation shows that it was delivered (even if it didn't get delivered to the right place) the seller is protected against an "It never arrived" claim.

I stopped shipping outside the USA on PayPal transactions because of the "Not Received" ploy.

Prior to that I would only ship outside the US to Canada anyway, which I will still do if the buyer is willing to pay with a Canada Post money order (or cash).

I put Delivery Confirmation on EVERYTHING!! that I ship. Mainly to know when and tell the customer when to expect the coin or coins. I also insure every package valued over $50 which is 99%. Delivery Confirmation is only $0.85 and well worth it.
