TONED COINS!

I really like that piece!!! It's not just because I grew up in Oklahoma, either. Nice design and toning and its one ounce of silver to boot.

What the history behind the piece?

Your silver round demonstrates very well the difference that alloy composition can make in natural toning. Silver coinage is typically 0.900 fine and is alloyed with copper. The resulting toning is very rarely purple and, in fact, most vividly purple silver coins are AT. However, the composition of a silver round is typically 0.999 fine and this higher percentage of silver allows the round to tone in a manner similar to that of pure silver. The colors that pure silver will tone to are deep purples that border on black. It will also tone quickly in the non-alloyed state. Just an interesting little observation.
