Long Beach lunch with board members WHAT FUN

15 posts in this topic

Had a nice lunch with gmarguli, jom, clw54, kiefercoins, JamminJ, and (sorry I forget names)

We meet at the Long Beach show and next thing I know I’m eating a French puff pastry sandwich and looking at coins.

These guys are great and know everything about coins of all kinds.

It was a real privilege for me to meet them, if you get the chance to have lunch with them at a show don’t pass it up.

The show was very busy and lots to see.

If I gleam through my purchases and find anything to show , I’ll post the pictures.

Thanks for the compliments Glen, it was a good time.

Not a bad show I picked up five coins:

1859A Austria 5 kreuzer

1913A Germany/Prussia 2 marks (Battle of Liepzig commem)

1786B Germany/Brandenburg-Bayreath kreuzer

1664 Austria Vienna mint 15 kreuzer

1704 Austria/Salzburg 1/4 thaler

All are nice uncirculated coins ecept the last which is an attractive colorful AU. Hopefully I'll get some pictures up as well.

OK here's one coin before I go to bed, but no writeup for now. It's the colorful Salzburg quater thaler:

Very nice!

Do you have any of the St. Rupert with the shield reverses? That one looks interesting also, from perusing the Krause.

Is this what you had in mind?

If not I have a few others to try.

Salzburg has lots of attractive coins. Suprizingly, they're fairly easy to find even in high grade. cloud9.gif

Let's see some pictures! Clw posted a couple of them across the street, but gmargulli was nowhere to be found. Does anybody know what he looks like? Is he really that evil? wink.gif

I could have been more specific... How about a 1728 1/2 Thaler KM327 or Thaler KM329?

I don't have an example of either of those, but I do agree they are quite snazzy.

Here are the only known pictures of Greg:

Funny how stuff keeps getting in the way of his face. He's only evil if you ask him for an opinion on a coin and get angry at him if you don't like the answer.
