Early release requirements

How soon do unopened proof sets with post-marks that would have qualified as "early releases" need to be submitted to receive that designation? Specifically I have an uopened box of 2006 silver proof sets ordered the first day available and received shortly thereafter. If there is a cutoff date, why would there be one since the initial status does not change.

Thanks for the question. NGC defines Early Releases as coins received by NGC within the first 30 days of their release. We do not go by the postmarked date so the 2006 silver proof sets would not be eligible. You can read more about Early Releases and view the specific cutoff dates by clicking here.
