1982 Russian Set / 1984 Austrian Set

2 posts in this topic

Good day,

I live in South Africa, and for some time now have been collecting proof ZAR coins. I went to an auction about a month ago, and purchased 2 sets; a 1982 set in a plastic casing with the 1 Rouble, 50/20/10/5/3/2/1 Kopecs and the Leningrad mint's Token. I must admit, I've never even seen Russian money - not to speak of owning a set.

The second set was a 1984 Austrian set, with the markings OSTERR.HAUPTMUNZAMT WIEN - also in a plastic casing.

Both sets are in a fairly good condition.

My question is this; I know what I've paid for them ( being a bit scarce in SA ) but what are their actual value?

M.

Krause's 2003 edition of the Standard Catalog of World Coins lists the Austrian Proof set at $12.50 and the Russian mint set at $8.

You might also check on Ebay.com for similar sets for comparison of actual sale values.
