Whats wrong with this coin???

I spent the afternoon trying to inventory my grandfather's morgans and came across this one. Its a totally different color than the rest, more of a silver that looks like it came out of a spray can and the wearing is really weird. The rims are totally worn down, as are the breast feathers, but the letters and stars are ok... thoughts?

The coin was likely a piece of jewelry at one point and the silvery look it has acquired is from silver polish. The odd wear pattern on the rims and breast feathers could be due to bezel fittings or a solder spot.
