Abbreviations

I haven't been collecting for too long but I'm not brand new to the hobby either, and there are abbreviations in the registry point tables that I am totally confused by.

 

For example, the 2010 1c Union Shield Penny has several MS variants:

  • MS RD (which I know is red)
  • MS RFD
  • MS RDP
  • MS RFY

 

Is there a place that explains the abbreviations used in the registry?

You can view a complete list of Grading Designations by clicking here. The link to this page can also be found below each Census page.

 

For the ones you listed:

 

RD = Red

RFD = Red, First Day of Issue

RDP = Red, Prooflike

PFY = Red, Release Ceremony

 

I see that RFD is not currently on that list of grading designations so I will get that added.
