Most unusual plating error.

1 post in this topic

I aquired this strange 2001 proof cent that has the most unusual plating error I have ever seen. I bought the coin because it looked like a Spiked Head. It was worth the chance since the set went low when the bidding ended. However, I sent it in to a person who I have confidence in grading suh a coin. He said it is a plating error, and I agree with him. However, it still looks like a spiked head Lincoln in which the spike travels all the way thrugh his head entering the chin and exiting out the back top of his head. I have never seen a plating error such as this. they are almost always bubbly looking, and this one doesn't seem that way as it travels in a straight line.
