Is Ebay actually doing something about shill bidders? Maybe so.

Interesting post ats regarding neyronix(ebay seller). Many, many complaints have been posted regarding whether he uses shills or not. Now it appears ebay has removed his ability to place actual bid auctions and can only place BIN auctions due to shill bidding. At least, that is what is presented in the posts.

If interested the link is here.

One down and 9,999,999 to go! Maybe my great-great-great-great grandchildren won't have to worry about shills when they're old enough.

It took Ebay far longer than it should have in that case, but I am glad they finally did something.

Still, they should have booted him, entirely, rather than allowing him to continue with "BIN" listings.

I'll use this opportunity to once again declare how much I do not miss eBay :) .

Robert Hughes has had quite his share of personal problems, that in turn led to his professional problems, over the years. But his willingness to make poor decisions year after year after year have led to his demise.

Let me just say that I have done slight business with RLH (not on eBay, in person), and I will only do cash transactions with him.

I have noticed that he has removed all coins from his website and now is only offering the tv accessories(which he always offered). So perhaps he is no longer selling coins at all on ebay, just speculation.

ATS thread makes the valid point that he has had several different ebay accounts over the years, when one is pulled, he just creates another and the scam starts again...... I am glad the bay finally did something about him, but in the end they won't completely shut him down. Having said that, isn't using shills in auctions against the law in some states?

I have to suspect that he must have been cancelling his auctions after close with his shills

just because eBay seems rather proficient at sucking dollars from sellers, which means maximizing sales price as well as sales

eBay says they care, but I doubt it if the seller pays the transaction fees and does the same thing again with the item in a few weeks

even though 'shill bidding' may be illrgal in some places, it is not much different than having a hidden reserve (sorry item does not sell0 which some auctioneers use - or the 'phantom bids' that are called from nobody in the rear of the room

No. eBay cares only about the money in their pocket. Shills put money in their pocket. They like shills. They'll smack one down every now and then just so they can point to it when the government or media comes knocking.

BTW, anyone here a member of the eBay coin watch community or whatever they call it? Dumbest SOBs around!

If anyone answers yes to that, Greg wins.

Ebay may have left the BIN auctions to just run out. If they are letting him list new BIN,s he just got a slap on the hand and will be back in a month or two.

I find it fascinating that they take down this seller's auction, all the while they ignore the abuse of some of their other fee generators, including a seller that we all love to hate. Maybe those coins and the final auction prices aren't so great after all.
