Coins Sent to NCS that are NGC Worthy. What happens?

5 posts in this topic

I recently sent in a slew of coins to NCS- stuff I wanted holdered that had problems.

(As a side note: I had two coins bodybagged by NCS! Coins so bad, even NCS wouldn't holder them... photos coming up this weekend on those...).

Now, one of the coins was a rainbow toned Ike. NCS returned it as Genuine but with no notation is was Artifically Toned. That leads me to believe the coin had a shot with NGC, getting holdered as a no problem coin with the toning and all.

Is there no way that if NCS receives a coin and the submitter is wrong- it has NO problems, NCS couldn't shuffle it over to NGC? I know this would intale a greater expense, but it would be worth it.

Ideas?

NCS will "move" a coin to NGC is you selected the grading option if the coin is problem free. They charge $3 to move the coin.

If only the genuine slab option was picked, you can have problem free coins holdered by NCS.

Thanks Greg for the info. I just looked at the NCS submission form and missed this option the first time.

Now, if this Ike had what the folks at NCS believed to be "questionable color" would they not have listed that on the insert? In other words, with just the GENUINE designator on the insert, is this NCS's way of saying the coin is problem free?

Yes, I believe so. If they would just holder problem coins without listing the problem, I've got a bunch for them. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

OR....you get an incredible gift like I did yesterday. I took a 1919s nickel to NCS at Santa Clara. Had HORRIBLE black gunk on it. Hard, gooey, tarry crud. I picked at it a bit and saw that the only thing I could do was gouge the heck out of it.

Came back yest from NGC as a 63!!!!!!

Drippin with luster. Amazing transformation.
