State Quarters

6 posts in this topic

Sorry but I hope you can bear yet another question about state quarters. My father recently passed away & left me the coin collection we've been collaberating on for many years (since I was a child). There are many interesting pieces that I'm enjoying researching etc but right now I'm just trying to focus on completing some books that he started with the intent of passing on to my son. One of those books is a State Quarter book with a few empty holes. Does anyone know of a reputable site where I can purchase loose quarters to fill these specific holes?

As I dig further into things I'll be concentrating on filling in some other gaps in proof/mint sets, older books, etc & I'm sure I'll need to be picking your brains again in the future. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

Welcome to the boards. If you are looking for circulated state quarters I would simply try to get them from pocket change. If, however, you want uncirculated coins, you may have to go to a local shop. I would doubt that they would cost more than $1 each. Good luck.

Tom,

Thank you for your kind words. I've been trying to find them in our pocket change to no avail. I'd hate to have to go to a coin shop to get uncirculated as they're only going into a book. I have rolls of uncirculated but don't want to crack them open. Should I maybe post on another forum the individuals that I'm looking for? There are 5 that I need...7 if you count the Florida releases that I haven't stumbled across yet.

Sorry for all of the questions, please bear with me as I try & get a feel for these forums. Thanks in advance for your patience & help.

Robin

If you are just looking for circulated ones, why not post a list of the ones you need in the marketplace forum, most of us would probably sell them to you at face plus postage, and some might even trade for other quarters etc. It's worth a try at least.

A good place to find circulated quarters is at one of those change machines at a car wash. Just stick a $20 bill and search through the 80 quarters. Im sure you can fill most of those holes this way and all for face value. You have nothing to lose.
