Hello all!! I am new to this forum although I recognise many of the names around here. I wanted to say "hi" and introduce myself.

I collect high-grade Irish coins from 1928 - 2000 and always welcome PMs from people with nice coins to sell!!

Good evening to all,

-John

Howdy, John. You won't be getting a PM, but I thought you might like this one. smile.gif

You wouldn't happen to have any extra pounds, would you?

By style, do you mean type of strike? I prefer circulation strikes, but on this one it wouldn't matter since it's not for me. (I owe my daughter a cool coin)

Well, the Irish punt/pound was only put out from 1990-2000 and in that time there were several varieties.

The Red Deer punt was issued in 1990, 94, 95, 96, 98 and 99. These are available in proof and UNC. The UNC typically have an engrailed edge, but there is a more valuable style with a plain milled edge.

The Broighter Boat punt was issued in 2000. Available in proof or UNC.

There was a UN commem punt in 1995 in proof that is crazy expensive.

Then there are the PNC (philatelic numismatic covers) issues by the An Post (Irish post office) as I showed above. They are a neat collectable. The coin is between two pieces of plastic for viewing.

But, since you indicate you are just looking for a circulated punt, I do have an extra 1999 red deer punt and you are welcome to it. PM with addy and I'll send it to you. Or if you want the PNC it's $8.

Hello John,

Welcome to the other side of the street. May I ask what caused you to venture to these climes?

Got tired of looking at the same coins. Thought I'd see what interests were over here. Also the OF over there is worthless wasteland. Wanted to see if people here were more open-minded and less bullying.

Nothing against the PCGS Darkside, it is a great place, just wanted to expand my horizons.

I understand your sentiment.

A lot less traffic over here, I usually post stuff associated with the Holy Roman Empire, Greg like 17th century thalers, Venice coins and old high grade coins, and GDJSMP is partial to gold ducats.

Edited to add: and Wihlborg and Spiney chime in with varied interesting stuff. (sorry for my oversight)

I have just a few Irish coins in my collection, all circulated stuff people gave me as a kid. I do admire the simple attractive designs on them.

Hope to see more of you here,

-JamminJ

I'll forgive you this time... sumo.gif

I had to put off the PNNA show until tomorrow. Hopefully I'll find something worthy of posting. 893crossfingers-thumb.gif
