Hoot's Magical, Casino Kennedy: PCGS FN15!

Tough balancing act on determining the grade, the legends are partially worn into the rim, but quite a bit of hair detail remains. I guess F15 is a fair grade.

When net grading an artificially worn coin I wonder if you should add points or subtract them.

Hoot pulled this one right out of a slot machine. This Kennedy is not "artifically worn".

I wasn't sure about this one, but after seeing your Sacagawea I can't help but wonder. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Well, maybe not a slot machine! I got it out of a circulated roll of assorted Kennedy's, straight from the bank. tongue.gif Thought it was no better than a G6, and there was no indication that the coin was a pocket piece or had been in a rock tumbler, etc. Seemed like a perfectly good piece that had seen more wear than most 50c pieces ever will.

Thanks Pat!

It does look a little strong in the center for a F15, but PCGS is known to assign "middle grades" i.e. F15, VF25, to coins they have no idea what it should grade - like circulated commems and circulated NCLT.
