Anguilla Liberty Dollars

3 posts in this topic

In 1967 Anguilla declared its independence from Britain. Britain didn't appreciate this and sent its military to stop the bloodless revolt.

These coins, the Anguilla Liberty Dollar, were made during this revolt. However, they were made in San Francisco and basically served as souvenirs. They were struck on 15 different types of coins.

There just came back from NGC and I bet that I am the only person demented enough to submit these things for grading. 27_laughing.gif

Actually I think only a few police officers were required to suppress the "rebellion."

Is it standard practice to determine the overall grade on counterstamped coins from the host coins? The counterstamps sure looks sharp, in a demented kind of way. 27_laughing.gif

Glad to see you're enjoying the hobby!
