...coin. Anyone else think so?

Anyone think it might be a "funny" color or is this a typical color patten for an Iowa? I wouldn't know but an expert in Commems would....

I don't usually post this kind of stuff but...what the hell? laugh.gif

I've never seen an Iowa toned that way. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif It certainly looks like its supposed to be tab toning, but, I think these weren't issued in tab cardboard holders. Most likely Greg or Truth would know. The centers have too much bleed of the toning for me to think it is tab toning. Also, the color between A and T of STATE on the obverse and ALF DO of HALF DOLLAR on the reverse scares me. Of course, it could be an artifact of the image and not the true color. It definitely looks like it's slabbed, but if I saw it raw... 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

I used to own this coin once upon a time. 893whatthe.gif Bought it from a dealer at Long Beach. Then two years later, sold it to a dealer at Long Beach. I made money on it. 893applaud-thumb.gif

I have seen many Iowa halves that have wierd and wild toning. Since they don't sell for much of a premium, I doubt that they were AT, and nobody was pushing them as having "great color" either. Looks like a legit coin to me. confused-smiley-013.gif

Yeah, sorry everyone. I had originally wanted to post the Ebay listing but I decided to just upload the pic. This coin is graded MS68 (!) by PCGS.

I've seen several that look like this with funky shaped toning. Not that out of the ordinary.

You can find Iowas with golden rims speckled with vibrant greens, reds, and purples. Most people are just very used to seeing them white since they are insanely common in white.
