Need some Overton Help!

3 posts in this topic

Ok, I bought this coin from a fellow board member, and the attribution was done by the dealer that sold it to him. I got to looking at it and I felt the attribution was incorrect, so now I just want some independent confirmation of what I found. The coin is graded by PCGS as AU-50, but I am most interested in your thoughts on the die marriage. Thanks in advance!

I agree. O-102.

The obverse die (2) is definitely correct. It was used with different reverses for 102, 103, and 104. So it can only be one of those.

- The RI in AMERICA appears joined solid at the base. Good diagnostic for the 102.

- On the 103 (same obverse die) the end of the olive branch extends over the left side of the C. Good one! I also don't see ED and AM solidly joined.

- I is not centered under T so that rules out 104

Lance.
