I feel I'm at a cross road!

Man, I love coins.

I'm open for learning but the coin rags, books and message boards are not filling my quota of coin information.

I like errors, I like varieties... but if I bought every book on the subjects, I wouldn't have enough for coins smile.gif

The message boards are cool but I often write or respond and then don't have time to keep up with the subject at hand.

I'd like to go to a Major coin show but they are either all out West or hours away.

I'd like to speak to the experts, pick their brains but.. again, there brains are all out west.

I'd like to meet some of the people from the boards, have a trade and grade, lunch and grade, drinks and grade.

I'd like to meet the likes of Wayne Herndon, Mark, perhaps David Lang... heck, throw in Legend, Russ, Lucy, Greg (and all of the other personalities on the board) Share a burger and a beer with Sarasota Frank...

but I'm not complaining, I just need to make my way to the major shows and join in on the fun. Can you guys have one in New York?

Come to the GSNA (Garden State Numismatic Association) show in the middle of May. I'll have a table. Of course, you don't have to come by to see me, however, I expect that airplanenut, DaveG, GP, EVP and perhaps Whilborg will be there. There might also be one or two mystery guests at the show. It's a three day show with about 80-100 dealers.

Try living in Montana.

Portland is ONLY 12 hours drive! Hot damn! A show close by! The shows in Salt Lake are only 40 or so tables, but they're only 7 hours drive! Oh, let me no sleight, the Helena show (whenever it is?) is designed to make you cry. frown.gif

Sorry for the lack of sympathy Dave, but I truly hope our paths cross some day. smile.gif

GSNA... I looked at the flyer and then mapped it. It's probably a 2-1/2 hour drive but I am seriously thinking about making the trip.

Do you have any details on the Coin Grading and Early Copper Seminars? That's something I would definately like to be there for and I wouldn't mind taking in the auction. Speaking of which, do they have an auction catalog available?

Thanks,

Dave

Hoot,

I feel so much better now cloud9.gif Baltimore is only 4 hours away, I probably could have gone but in my experience with long trips, I would have been caught in a blizzard.

I've never taken the courses that they offer. crazy.gif According to the web site, the courses are taught in conjunction with the ANA and appear to be three full days. The price is $400 with discounts for ANA and GSNA memberships. Perhaps someone else on the boards has taken the course?

I haven't taken courses before (too much school time), but one of the instructors, Doug Bird, was in my class over the summer at the ANA Summer Seminar... he was a very knowledgeable guy and had lots to say/show... I'd love to take a class taught by him (he does early copper). Regardless, the classes taught by the ANA (from what I hear, and my summer experiences) are very worthwhile.

Tom is correct--I plan on cutting school on the Friday, and going on Saturday, as well. I hope to meet people (not repel them 893naughty-thumb.gif)

And though not necessary, you better go see Tom... his stuff is SWEET (especially what he WILL NOT SELL 893frustrated.gifsign-rantpost.gif)
