Teletrade vs Heritage?

11 posts in this topic

I may be selling around $150,000 of coins in the next few months. Typical price per coin is around $800 (but some worth over $5000) with most of them NGC/PCGS graded. NO moderns. I have not sold through Heritage or Teletrade before. Suggestions?

For the buyer, neither, until the juice is subtracted from the consignee's sale price and not added to the sale price. But what's that got to do with this? Nothing...so good luck on the sale of your coins no matter whom you choose...may the coin Gods be with you.

Definitely go with Heritage. You have only five days to consign for the FUN show in Tampa. The FUN show may well be the best show of the year for consignors.

There really is no comparison. Teletrade focuses mostly on widgets, low priced coins, low publicity, and generally garners lower prices. Heritage deals in some of the finest coins, has a widely known and highly regarded name, excellent visibility, and would offer you the sort of service you want.

Heritage for sure – you can negotiate with them to waive your seller’s fee and it is possible they might even kick back to you a portion of the buyers fee. If you have the time a general list of the type of coins you have for sale would surely get some interest from board members here. If you have any nice Seated Dollars let me know

Jim,

I have never used Tele Trade to sell; I have used Heritage both directly

and thru a Dealer-Agent. If the consignment is high enough [ per lot - I

understand the total value is $150K ] then I'd use an agent and get hammer

plus 2-3 % over hammer.

You need to determine what Reserve you want - and don't make it too

high other wise you'll be penalized if the coin doesn't sell if the Reserve

is too high.

The BST, both here and ATS - are also good venues to sell. I just sold

my duplicate Barber Half collection ATS on their BST. I used an intermediary

dealer [ good friend ] and he handled all the imaging, postage and Pay Pal

and deposits. The entire collection sold within a month to collectors... maybe

a dealer or two for their want lists.
