I know you may be a little skeptical of buying from me since I havent spent much time on these forums, but I usually sell on another forum and I'm not getting as much interested as I would like over there.

Here is the link to the other forum thread to give you a little more comfort...

-All prices are USPS shipped with signature confirmation (if you prefer the items shipped differently please ask first)

-Paypal is best and apparently paypal doesnt charge fees anymore for basic person to person money sending, but if paypal is going to charge me a fee please add 3% for paypal payments.

-I'll also accept checks, money orders etc.. Just let me know if your going to use a payment, other then paypal, before you dedicate the payment.

-Yes these are my pictures and there about the best I can do with my basic setup, so any off color or "washed-out" is just camera related.

-All coins are housed in a clear air-tite holder

-RETURNS: I WILL ACCEPT RETURNS AS LONG AS YOU CONTACT ME WITHIN 3 DAYS OF RECEIVING THE COIN(S) AND PROMPTLY SHIP THEM BACK IN THE SAME CONDITION AS YOU RECEIVED THEM.

Theres no $3 shown in that picture, and the picture only shows about 1/2 to 2/3 of all the coins that are for sale. The obverse of the $1 type 3 and the $3 is very similar.

I only took that last picture to give people an idea of what the coins holders looked like even though it does show a good portion of the coins for sale

lol since I dont have a $3 piece and have never bought a $3 piece I think I'm pretty confident in it being a $1 piece. Trust me its either the 1857 or 1862 $1 Type 3 that is for sale above. The $1 Type 1's and Type 3's weigh the same but the Type 3 is larger in diameter and I believe thinner in thickness.

The $1 Type 1's are 13mm in diameter and the Type 3's are 14.86mm.

You seem pretty determined to convince me though :-)

Would you like to buy it? I would be more then willing to sell it to you and make a $1000 profit :-)

i believe you but still looks like a three to me so must be an optical dillusion

no lol i dont want to buy a one dollar gold piece but thanks for offering

if you look at the photos the middle coin does look like a three dollar as to the left and right are one dollar gold pieces and the middle coin does look bigger

an optical dillusion lol

well you got the first one dollar/three in existance lol

It looks bigger because it is bigger. Like I said the Type 3 is about 14% larger in diameter then the Type 1. I have never purchased a $1 Type 2 nor a $3 because they are a bit too pricey for me.

The $3 is about 30% larger in diameter then the $1 Type 3 that your looking at. A while ago when I bought air-tites for the coins I purchased a few for the $3 but never decided on one to buy.

The coins are their normal golden color, the greenish tint is just from using the wrong white balance setting on the camera. The last picture of the air-tites more accurarely displays the color.
