The low mintage odyssey.

 

Way back in the seventies when I first started to really collect coins I had a subscription to Coins Magizine. In one of the issues there was a column about a really interesting way to collect coins. The author said he looked for issues with mintages of 500,000 or less. The catch was the coin had to be priced less than $100.00. The object was to come up with a coin that was rarer than a 1909 S VDB cent at a fraction of the cost. I'm attempting to do this and its a real challenge. It's cherrypicking with a purpose that's really satisfying.
