Need A Rough Idea Of Pricing

5 posts in this topic

To be 100% clear, I am clueless when it comes to coins. I checked the Numismedia.com site and couldn't find anything close to these two. My wife and I are looking at picking these up for her father. I just want a rough estimate of price and any other advice is much appreciated!

The first is an English King Edward Berwick Silver Penny ca. 1239-1307

The second is a 7th or 8th Century Byzantine Empire Coin from Constantinople with an image of Christ

Not my main area, but I've purchased many of the GB Pennies in for one it that condition probably around $40.

I've seen the same style Byzantine coins sell for $5-$20 in similar condition.

I know nothing about rarer varieties, etc. Those are just general prices for problem free examples.

Edward I would be between 1272-1307. 1239 was when his father, Henry III (1216-1272), was ruling. Though Edward was born in 1239, he wouldn't have been featured on any coinage of the realm until he actually ascended the throne.

I'd say that the VF is a far stretch for the grade, and so is the F+ that it was graded at previous to the VF.

Pricing wouldn't be expensive, to be sure.
