grading a walker

Hi all .. something i have not collected, this type of coin and have little idea on how you grade them.

so this is one from a large auction lot from last weekend. so for a bit of fun would you like to grade it for me and help me understand the series

I just started collecting these, my set is linked in my sig line below.

 

I would guess that yours is an AU. Look for wear first on the eagle's breast, and Liberty's breast and thigh.

Dooly------- You should collect these. They are a wonderful coin.

 

I'm going an Au grade on your 42S coin for the following reasons:

 

1----It has some degree of center skirt line detail above what you would normally see.

 

2---It has visible neck feather detail on the Eagle

 

3---It has a little thumb separation detail

 

Overall, it looks to be quite a nice circulated Walker----for an "S" minted coin. Happy collecting. Bob [supertooth]
