Bought my first US coin in a while

22 posts in this topic

I went to a small local show today and bought a U.S. coin for the first time in many months, a 1921 Peace dollar. It looked kind of sad laying in the dealers case so, with pity in my heart, I brought it home:

I blurred out the certication number so the registry guys can't steal the number from me. wink.gif

I have a small list of miscelaneous US coin I'd like to own which did contain a high reliedf peace dollar until today. I didn't think I'd add one quite like this, but it does have a certain charm. confused-smiley-013.gif

I almost feel like Braddick's kindrid soul.

JamminJ,

Peace Dollars are my favorite. It's the first I ever started to seriously collect and ended up selling extremely cheap when I needed to pay some bills when I was out of work. Now your making me think about what to do with my winnings!

Congrats on your pick-up.

Thanks, it feels a little strange buying this thing. Believe it or not, clw54 was standing next to me when I bought it and was ready to swoop right in had I passed.

I'll trade you two 1964 silver Kennedys for it.

Sorry, those look AG03 at worst. If they were Accented Hairs maybe, but not for those common ones.

How much did it cost?

I once passed on one that was in about the same condition. it had been someone's pocket piece for years. I've regretted that pass in the past, and even more so now 893frustrated.gif.

Way to go! Hoot

Now that's a COIN. If I didn't already have one of these in PO01 I'd be extra jealous!

(My PO01, by the way, has no date. But, because it is the High Relief it is one of the few coins PCGS doesn't need to authenticate and slab.)

Nice pickup.

I though you'd like it! Actually, the first time I looked I asked the dealer for a business card and was just going to PM you his name with a description of the coin. On second thought it had a charm all its own so I brought it home.

Still not sure why I bought it but with the generally positive replies I fell a little less silly.

Flip it to Braddick for $500! 893whatthe.gif

jom

Come on, jom, Braddick's a good guy so there's no need to squeeze every last dollar out of him. $425 seem like a much more fair price to me! 893whatthe.gif

JamminJ,

I like your spirit. Are you going to crack out and submit it to NGC to see if you can get the 03?

I'm just going to leave it as is. As long as it's in "legit" plastic so everyone can tell the grade I'm happy. 27_laughing.gif
