AT or NT? Opinions?

First up is a Connecticut half. Is this NTed or is this more likely ATed?

And this is a San Diego half. IMO, this is NT, but someone may think different.

David,

IMO the Connecticut half is AT. The San Diego half may be NT, but there is something about the tone that doesn’t look right to me. I would have to see it in person, in either case the toning on the San Diego half is not the type that I would consider attractive toning.

Based on the images alone, and how they look on my monitor, the Connecticut is without a doubt a very poorly done job of AT while the San Diego does look "odd", however, without better light it would be tough to make a definitive statement.

That Connecticut half is just ridiculous looking. It's a shame. I think that's my favorite commemorative.

It's a little harder to see the San Diego half in the picture. It's certainly not blatantly AT, if at all.

When I first set eyes on the pics, I thought BOTH were AT, the latter being one of complete ruin. Would not touch either one with a 10 foot pole. A terrible shame.

The Connecticut is without a doubt AT and it is being sold by an eBay seller that deals in AT coins.

The second coin is just ugly. It's possible it is AT gone bad, but more likely it is just an ugly NT coin.

Avoid both these coins and this seller.

Greg---Dave, you weren't supposed to know that or find it out!!!!!!

How did you know, unless you were perusing the sellers list? Shame on you! wink.gif

Figured everyone would say AT for the Conn, wasn't sure about the San Diego.

Thanks everyone!

I search eBay for colorful commems all the time. This one came up on a search. When I saw it I thought bondman or tonecoin did it. I was a little surprised to see rvp selling it since his AT coins usually aren't so laughable.

I did search for the San Diego, but I don't know. It's possible it's one of his AT coins gone bad, but regardless it still sucks even if it is NT.

I think the CT is AT.

As for the SD, I think that it's been slowly toned (or, re-toned) outside its originally issued packaging and done so within the past 2-5 years. It basically looks like it was left on a window sill, just reacting to whatever oxidants that came its way. And, it clearly doesn't have positive eye appeal.

There's a reason why these coins aren't slabbed...
