HSN is at it again.......

Just turned on their "Coin Collection" show and they are selling the 1986-S ASE proofs as from the mint with box and COA for $59.95. Will sell 300 of them at this price! I got mine off eBay for less then $33. with S/H/I.

Geez, they are making money! Why I even bother to watch, I don't know. Sometimes, they do know what they are talking about, (history of coinage) but EVERYTHING they sell is so high-priced!

Yes they are high-priced, and often sell things that are overgraded, and could be had elsewhere for far less. Not to defend them, but TV time is expensive and this cost is passed-on the the buyer. There are many unknowing people that do not have access to a computer that they prey on, or cater to. My bosses wife cannot help but purchase a coin now and then for him.....we both cringe but what can you do? Most of us know better and I for one can only hope that no one gets burned sooo bad that they are turned away from our great hobby.

sanmary, I must agree with you on all counts. There just doesn't seem to be any other logical explanation for the high prices and sell-outs. It just seems so strange to be on the other side of the fence, knowing what we know.

PayCGS, coin universe, the inflated prices and population numbers are no different then how HSN conducts their business. Imagine if DHRC and David Hall had a half hour of television airtime. Do you think D Hall would tell the public the reason behind the ridicuous prices, that it's due to the registry hype and pop top certification exploitation. Do you really think the public would buy it? The answer to that is very sad my friend, very disappointing!
