Grading Results

7 posts in this topic

Other than my 1932-D Washington, I had 11 other coins that I sent in with my first ever submission to NGC. I wanted to see how well my grades compared to what NGC would grade them.

001 1939 25C MS 55

-I bought this one for $2, thought it would be MS+, close but no cigar.

002 1942 P SILVER 5C MS 66

003 1942 S 5C MS 64

004 1943 S 5C MS 66

005 1943 D 5C MS 65

006 1944 S 5C MS 66

007 1944 D 5C MS 66

-Nice Coins, I figured on MS66's for most of them, not sure why they didn't get FS.

008 1978 S 5C PF 68 ULTRA CAMEO

-Par for the course.

009 1968 S 1C MS 65 RD

010 1968 S 1C MS 65 RD

-These were the best looking out of a mint bag, figured I might get a pop top out of one of them.

011 2000 WIDE ""AM"" 1C MS 67 RD

-HOLY COW! Only 2 graded higher! I bought this one on ebay, had it at the bottom of my own "junk box" for a year. very surprising.

Not bad for my "test run" but I have another 14 coins in awaiting grading... those are the real deal. smile.gif

If you are using the PCGS standards of 5 steps and a couple of hits for FS, then that is why. NGC requires all 6 steps, something which is extremely hard to find, as well as no hits.

Congrats! I have some moderns that I'd like to submit sometime (when I have time!). I found them at home, and there are some really nice 1985 halves, and some 1986 and 1987 cents that I will likely pick the best of the lot to send in. I also have some older proofs that I'd like to have graded as well. Perhaps that will have to be a project after I do my taxes! 893whatthe.gif893frustrated.gif

Greg,

I'll have to double check when they get back, I might have had a hit or two but nothing (I thought) that would prevent me from getting the FS.

Michael,

I collect anything and everything. My first few submissions will probably tell the tale of whether it would be worthwhile to keep my collections in their coin albums or if I should get everything slabbed.
