How about some Italian?

Wow, that 2 Lira coin is smokin'! How ould you grade it? The reverse has one of my favorite designs of all time.

Italy is a tough region for me to reply with as I focus on stuff a bit further North. However, for a while after the fall of Napoleon the Hapsburgs ruled several Italian provinces including the kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia. Thus I have this lonely Italian coin in my collection:

JamminJ,

I grade it MS-66. There are no naked eye marks on the coin. The luster is outstanding and it has a slight pink tint that does not show in the image. The small darker marks that appear in the image are actually just the way the luster shows in the image.

Here is a kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia coin that is a little younger than yours.

Also, here is another Italian coin with a reverse design that is similar to the one on the 2 Lira coin. It is a 1925 50 centesini struck in nickel. I grade it an MS-65.

Hi John,

Now if the 2 Lira reverse is one of my all time favorites the Hapsburg double headed Imperial eagle is my all time favorite design! You certainly know how to play to the audience, I like it.

Interestingly enough, your 2 lira coin inspired me to look at some Itailian stuff at a local shop. While I didn't land a 2 lira, I did go home with a 1920 version of the 50 centime coin. Mine's an OK XF or so which set me back one dollar. I'll consult with the photography department (my wife) and see if an expidited picture of it is in the cards.

Oh no, that's how it starts. First you buy one, than another, and another.....
